A citizen is someone who is a proud part of their community. A citizen is a social responsibility in action. A Social Citizen is someone who enters the hairdressing community, disrupts, and ignites a change in the mentality of the hairdressing industry.
That’s what we strive to create: students who are ready with their mind, body, and soul to become stellar hairstylists.

Social Citizen Academy was started with a dream and a vision.
Our school was founded by the married team of Tyler James Whittier and Jessica Whittier, both professional hair stylists with years of experience behind the chair.
During Tyler’s assisting program in his salon, he saw that new hair professionals lacked the skills they needed to be successful after graduating from beauty school. And Social Citizen Academy was born!
Tyler is passionate about sharing what this industry can do for someone’s life, as it has for his.
He wants to disrupt the status quo and provide future beauty professionals with the training they need to be successful beauty professionals!
